1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe Is Good As New

1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe

The 2nd generation Chevrolet Camaros were built between 1971 and 1981. Compared to the 1st generation Camaro, the 2nd generation was significantly less powerful. Like most cars during the mid-70s to early 80s, the 2nd generation was badly hit by safety and gas emission regulations which were forced to cut the power of all cars of that time. By 1981, the high-performance Z28 was equipped with the GM 350 ci V8 engine and was able to go head to head with other top of the line models in 1981. It was rated to produce 190 horsepower and was only available with a matching automatic transmission. A manual transmission was only available on the smaller 305 ci V8 engine that produced 165 horsepower.

Although the 1981 Camaro Z28 was a new design, it still shared the same basic designs of previous Camaros. It still had the unibody design that featured a front subframe, A-arm and coil spring for the front suspension, and leaf springs for the rear. 2nd gen Camaros had an improved chassis and suspension system that greatly enhanced both performance and stability. Basic models came with better sound proofing, road-holding, and ride isolation. Thanks to the racing success of the 1st gen Camaros, Chevy engineers were able to enhance the balance, steering, and braking of the 2nd gen Camaros.

This 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 only has 7,600 original miles and looks good as new. Both the interior and exterior looks to be all original but still needs to be verified. Based on the pictures, you can see that everything looks like it just came out of the Chevrolet Detroit showroom. It features original air condition, automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering.

The exterior looks excellent. The body looks perfect without any signs of damages and the white finish looks great. Except for the addition of the cowl induction hood, everything is original. The engine and transmission are numbers matching and were never rebuilt or taken out of the engine bay. The car runs perfectly and is a great experience to drive. You’ll really have to look very close to find the small imperfections on this Camaro.

It is a perfect turnkey classic that is ready to hit the streets and cruise around town. Although it’s not as powerful as the 1st gen Camaros. This Z28 still packs a punch, especially coming from a time when cars have been heavily underpowered. A perfect example of a top of the line 2nd generation Camaro.
