The “Wagon Deville’s” were specially ordered models that were only available through official Cadillac dealerships which make them extremely rare to find. They were highly-optioned Cadillac Deville sedans that have been turned into wagons. This featured Wagon Deville is almost complete and features all the rare and important components except for the roof rack unique to the Wagon Deville. Although it still needs some work and money to bring this wagon back on the road, the efforts would surely worth it to have such a rare classic family wagon. This wagon can be found in Douglassville, Pennsylvania and is currently listed on craigslist with an asking price of $10,000.
According to its listing, the large 429 ci V8 engine is still running and it matched to an automatic transmission. The engine bay is covered in dust but the seller claimed that everything still works. It just needs some thorough cleaning to make it look better. It also has a bit of rust but are minimal and won’t be any problem as long as they are contained. This Wagon Deville is highly optioned with power steering, power brakes, and a power sunroof.
The interior has some good parts but will need some work to look presentable. The front and rear seats are in good condition but the far rear seats need some work. The door panels and dashboard look solid as well. The headliner and carpet will need replacements, though. It also has a bit of rust which will need to be worked on. The rear floor of the driver’s side has a considerable rust and will need to be worked on as soon as possible, the same thing can be said for the spare tire well and trunk area floor. The body looks good after some recent work done but some smaller details will need further work to restore it back to perfection. The front windshield has a crack but fortunately finding a replacement would not be that hard as it is a standard Deville windshield. The side trim and driver side rocker molding are both missing but they are standard Deville sedan components as well. The only Wagon Deville specific part is the roof rock which can be hard to find.
The Cadillac Wagon Deville is very classy for a family wagon. The pillar-less windows, rear spoiler, and all power options such as the sunroof are simply for added comfort and provide shade for the rear passengers. All the added features are probably too much for a family wagon which is why the Wagon Devilles are very rare. In 1965, a brand new Wagon Deville cost $14,950 which would be around $112,000 at present.
This 1965 Cadillac Wagon Deville is certainly a rare sight and it would be nice is its next owner would restore it back to its former glory.
