This radiant 1939 Oldsmobile Model 60 convertible owned by Billy and Debbie Thomas is the winner of the August Night cup.
The Robstown, Texas couple, Billy and Debbie Thomas, started with a one-owner ’39 Oldsmobile convertible to build this awesome 1939 Oldsmobile Model 60 street rod. Customs and Hot Rods from Andice, Texas, and Harold Chapman helped in creating this lovely classic. Last August 6, 2016, this 2016 Ridler Award winner 1939 Oldsmobile has once again proven its worth by winning the Hot August Night Cup that was held in Reno, Nevada.
Dan Strohl said that after the Model 60 won the Ridler Award in February 2016, it received an Art Morrison chassis that has been heavily customized. Around 90% of the original body panels of this convertible have been modified to create a long and low stance. It is then powered by a 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8 that has been rebuilt into a 470 cubic inch V8 that is capable of powering up to 650 horsepower.
