Fact: This movie helped 1977 Pontiac Trans Am to be the hottest selling car of the year in 1977. Burt Reynolds also had a free 1977 Pontiac Trans Am because of the movie’s success.

The number one movie on our list is this 1971 American dramatic thriller film, The French Connection. While the 1968 movie called Bullitt already had the reputation for showcasing the best car chase, producers of the French Connection made one of the riskiest stunts ever done for movies.

While Gene Hackman was in pursuit of a suspect on an elevated New York train, its producers doesn’t inform the police and the public that they are shooting a scene. Every close-call on Hackman’s car is real, they only shot this scene once and their efforts paid off. They created a real life car chase for a movie.
