Although they already have a newer Corvette and a pair of Ferrari on their garage, the couple is still longing for the vintage vibe of Daytona that they want to incorporate on a Corvette.

The couple hired Randy Borcherding of the PAINTHOUSES in Cypress, Texas to help them with the classic car they’ve always wanted.

The 1963 Corvette

CLASSIC 1963 Corvette

The couple bought a 1963 Chevy Corvette some years ago and it was meant to receive various modifications. A brand new polished C4 suspension was mounted to the frame of their 1963 Corvette with Hyperco coil overs. This new set up has lowered the Corvette’s stance by 2-inches. A rack and pinion steering system was used on their vehicle but its brakes were upgraded using Wilwood components. The car also has a fresh set of brand new wheels, the Corvette is using Modsports from Schott Wheels and it is wrapped with Yokohama S. drive tires.

The Engine Bay

With the help of Randy, the couple decided to use a 1986 Chevrolet small-block 355 cu in engine on their Corvette, equipped with forged crankshaft and pistons. A customized grind shaft from Comp Cams was used to open the valves in Trick Flow Heads. Four Weber 44 DCOE carburetors were also mounted to its heavily customized engine bay and it was using a TREMEC TKO five-speed transmission.

The Sexiest Corvette!

The exterior was heavily modified to achieve the perfection from the couple’s vision. The car’s fenders were widened for the tire’s clearance and its bumpers were also modified. A 1967 hood was also added because in their opinion, it is the sexiest Corvette ever made.

After the modifications to its body, the car went through days of block-sanding. The PAINTHOUSE applied their custom-mixed PPG Raytona with Blue Pearl.

The custom blue-and-black leather was made by Paul Atkins Hot Rod Interiors while its Ferrari-inspired dash devices were built by Classic Instruments. Also, a custom sill plates by Greening Auto Company were added. A Vintage Air Unit was installed and to keep the passengers entertained, a remarkable hidden music system was created.

Blue 1963 Corvette

The couple’s Corvette was named Raytona. The car caught many people’s attention when it was displayed at 2015 SEMA Show.

Aside from its looks, the car’s performance and handling is also amazing. The handling was tight and precise while its brakes are very good and predictable. Randy’s efforts resulted in a car that has a modern vehicle vibe with a timeless classic design of a 1963 Corvette.
