1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 TANKER

The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Tanker is a race model of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe. The Z06 package eventually became known as the “Tanker”, it got its name from the large 36.5 Gallon fuel tank. The large fuel tank took the luggage space in the rear compartment.

The Z06 Special Performance package was a race ready out of the factory model that had special components specifically made just for this model. It had large finned drum brakes that has internal stamped-steel cooling fans, race ready suspension and brakes, sintered metallic linings, dual-circuit master cylinder that had unique copper-plated cap, and ventilated backing plates. Cooling vents for the drum faces and steel cooling fans installed on the hubs were to prevent fading on the drum faces and brake plates. The Z06 tanker has great handling due to its heavy-duty shocks and springs, it also had a bigger front sway bar. The changes Z06 had from the Stingray Coupe added an extra $1,818.45.
