Seeing someone dent or even bruise a classic car is enough to send us screaming and shouting obscenities at the guy behind the wheels. Well, we might have a little consideration if that guy is Jay Leno himself. In an episode of ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’, Leno took behind the wheels of a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 owned by a world-renowned musician, guitar player, and former member of The Tonight Show Band, Paul Jackson Jr.
Jackson’s Oldsmobile 442, is a legendary muscle car on its own. Having it resto-modded, Jackson says he wanted a car that was “a lot fun to drive but also very predictable on the street.”. Dubbed as the “Keeper of Cool” for its killer looks, Jackson’s Olds has with it a Chevy big block V8, pumping out 750 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque. Capable of going at top speeds of 116 mph, this 442 goes from 0-60 at 7.5 seconds. With all that power, fuel economy isn’t stellar; Jackson says that the 442 gets in the neighborhood of just 5 miles per gallon. Obviously, Leno was keen to point out the car’s terrible fuel economy.

Unfortunately, when Leno took out the Oldsmobile on the highway together with Jackson, they encountered a minor mishap that sent some sparks flying – and damaging the car (ouch). Luckily none of them got hurt.
